Fuse Box Replacement

Upgrade to a safer, modern consumer unit

Older fuse boxes with rewireable fuses, wooden backs or no RCD protection don't meet today's safety standards. An RCD (residual current device) switches off the power in a fraction of a second if current leaks to earth, which can prevent electric shocks and fires.

We replace outdated fuse boxes with modern consumer units built to the current wiring regulations (BS 7671), including RCD protection and surge protection where it's required. Before fitting, we test your existing circuits so there are no surprises, and we explain anything we find.

Most replacements are completed in a single day. Because we're Part P registered, we notify the work to building control for you, and you'll receive an Electrical Installation Certificate and a Building Regulations compliance certificate.

Areas we cover: Manchester, Salford, Stockport, Trafford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside and Wigan, across Greater Manchester.

Fuse Box Replacement: your questions answered

How long does a fuse box replacement take?

Most replacements take around a day. Your power will be off for part of that time, and we'll let you know in advance so you can plan around it.

Do I need a new fuse box if mine still works?

If your fuse box has rewireable fuses or no RCD protection, an upgrade is strongly recommended, even if it seems to work. An EICR will often flag an old board as needing improvement.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. You'll receive an Electrical Installation Certificate for the work and a Building Regulations compliance certificate, which you'll need if you sell your home.
