Electric Showers

Hot, reliable and safe showers

Electric showers draw a lot of current, typically between 8.5kW and 10.5kW, so they need a dedicated circuit with cable sized for the load.

Showers that run cold, trip the RCD or breaker, or have a scorched isolator switch are often caused by undersized cable, a worn isolator or loose connections. These problems can get worse over time and should be checked by an electrician.

When you fit a new or more powerful shower, we check that your cable, isolator and consumer unit can handle the load and upgrade them where needed. A new shower circuit is notifiable work, so we handle the Building Regulations notification for you.

Areas we cover: Manchester, Salford, Stockport, Trafford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside and Wigan, across Greater Manchester.

Electric Showers: your questions answered

Can I swap my shower for a more powerful one?

Only if the cable, isolator and protection are rated for it. A more powerful shower often needs a thicker cable, so we'll check before you buy.

Why does my electric shower trip the electrics?

Common causes are water getting into the unit, a failing heating element, a worn isolator or an overloaded circuit. We'll test to find out which.

Do you fit the shower itself?

We handle all of the electrical work. If your new shower needs plumbing changes, we'll let you know what's needed.
